Your profile:

You should be a graduate student in one of the following areas: political or social science, gender/ feminist studies, migration studies, sustainable development, environmental science or any related area. Or be a post graduate student who is working on his/ her final research project.

In addition to excellent academic performance, you have also displayed commitment outside the university. You stand out due to your curiosity and strong interest for the Southern African region.

In order to work as an intern in the regional office for Southern Africa of the Heinrich Böll Foundation, you should possess strong written and oral English language skills, have a high level of computer literacy (MS Office) and have the ability to work independently or in a team. In addition, you should preferably have some qualitative research and field work experience. Previous experience working, studying, or living abroad is a plus.

We particularly encourage applicants from the SADC region.

Description:

Ideally you will work at our office for 3 to 6 months. We will make an effort to take your individual preferences and skills into consideration when choosing the projects which you will work on. Accordingly, you will be able to enhance your existing skills and knowledge while making a valuable contribution to the foundation’s work.

Depending on the work order you will work independently or closely with office colleagues and project partners. Your internship may, amongst other things, include the following activities: research, event planning, documentation of projects, general office work and office communication.

Monthly stipends will be awarded, however, interns will be responsible to arrange and pay for their travel to Cape Town and own accommodation.
